Create Shimmer Backgrounds with Maker Forte Kaleidoscope Powders

I've been obsessed lately with shimmer powders and different ways to use them. Today I have a super cute shimmery background using Maker Forte's Kalidscope powders.

Card Details

This card is really easy to make. First thing you do is to spray some Pixie Spray down on the back of your stencil. This allows the stencil to stay in place as you ink blend onto the card stock.

The colors I chose were not your traditional Christmas colors but sometimes I like to create unique Christmas cards that are not your usually red and green. The colors I used for this card was Distress Oxide Barn Door and Worn Lipstick.

I used Scrapbook.com's dome blender brush. I recently started using these brushes, and I have to say, I really think they do a great job!

Once your card is blended with ink, then use Maker Forte's clear ink to ink up the stencil. This will lay clear sticky ink in the open ares of the stencil where the ink the color is.

Now comes the fun part. Use the powder tool to dip into the Kaleidoscope Powder and brush over the card. You don't need alot of powder. It is very fine and a little goes a long way. The color I used was Mercury. It has a subtle gold shimmer to it.

Use the Polish & Clean Up Brush to brush off the excess powder.

What you are left with is a beautiful background. Look how out it shimmers in the light!

You will need to set the powder so it does not fall off the card as it gets handled. You can use a clear coat like this, or use a cheap hair spray.

I embossed sentiments from the Poinsetta stamp set. Then I glued some pretty purple rhinestones from PinkFresh Studios.

The final project came out beautiful! I just love the shimmer of the background and the sparkle of the rhinestones are to die for!
