Celebrating Maker Forte’s October Release with Jess Fransisco’s Collection

Have you ever just wanna “get lit”? Nah seriously when I saw the stampset from Maker Forte, I laughed so hard! Jess Francisco has this adorable stampset and coordinating stencil that is just full of holiday puns and I could not wait to play! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

How To Create This Card

The first thing I did to create this card was to create the background. I used the Get Lit Stencil. When I first used it, I sprayed pixie spray on the back of the stencil and then placed Lawn Fawn glue down on the openings of the stencils, but the pixie spray adhesive attached itself to the entire card front, so it did not allow me to get a clean look with the glitter I wanted to adhere, because the glitter was all over the card instead of just the areas where the stencil showed through.

So I cleaned the stencil thoroughly and wiped it all over with a anti-static bag to make sure nothing else would stick to the card. But this presented a new challenge for me. I need to make sure the stencil was not going to move once I applied the glue over the stencil. So I decided to use Scrapbook.com's new Mint Tape and it worked like a charm!

I turned the stencil and the card stock over and laid the tape down on the back side. This allowed the stencil to remain in place while I used my glue tube to place glue down in the openings of the stencil.

Then I lifted the stencil to see only glue in the areas of the design, which in this case is cute fire flies (or lighting bugs if you are from the North like me) are zooming all over the page.

I then sprinkled the Biodegradable English Mustard Glitter over the page and sprinkled the excess off.

I then set that off to the side to dry. Next I focused on coloring the tree with copic colors.

I stamped the tree image from the Bah Humbug stampset using Memento Ink. I like using Memento with Copic Markers because won't run when you color on it.

I wanted the tree to be green but I also wanted there to be some yellow highlights on the tree so it looked like there was light coming from the fire flies that were buzzing around the tree.

Here are the colors I used for this.

Tree

  • YG 13
  • G05
  • G19

Fire Fly

  • Y13
  • Y02
  • E13

Trunk

  • E25
  • E27
  • E57

Once all of the coloring was completed, I carefully fussy cut out the tree.

Pro Tip

When fussy cutting, if you don't like the white showing up on the edge of the paper, color the edges of the paper with a outline or background color. I used my Small Brush Copic Multiliner to color the edge of the paper in this example.

Once the tree was cut out, I used my glue tube and placed small dots on the tree and used the Telephone Biodegradable Glitter as the garland. Then I used the glue to add the English Mustard glitter to the fire fly wings. I think it cam out super cute!

For the individual fire flies I added the glitter to them BEFORE I fussy cut them. It was much easier to handle on a bigger piece of paper than to glue them as individual flies. Once the glue and glitter was dried, I fussy cut them as well.

Then it was time to emboss the sentiment directly on to the card front. I used my Misti and inked it up with the Color Hive clear ink and used some black embossing powder. I heat set the sentiment and then diecutted the stitched rectangle on the card front. Then adhered the card front down to the English Mustard card stock card base.

Next I adhered the tree and the individual fire flies with some of Scrapbook.com's small square double side foam adhesives.
